Business practices

Women are a rarity in local business circles, and have very little protection from discrimination. Harassment is widespread. Much of rural Sierra Leone is governed by tribal law, which can preclude women from land ownership, positions of power, and obtaining justice in legal matters.

Currently women have very little representation in government, although they are not precluded from taking part. In general, however, local women are confined by their circumstances.
