Excluding military personnel, approximately 3,200 people live in the Falkland Islands. Two-thirds reside in or near the capital, Stanley. The rest live in the countryside, referred to as Camp.

The small, somewhat isolated population of the Islands has resulted in a territory with a community that is very close-knit, but also welcoming to visitors.
