There is little crime in the Falkland Islands, and this is a source of pride for residents. Nevertheless, it is wise to maintain common sense practices such as locking residence doors and securing all valuables.
There are still undetonated mines from the 1982 conflict with Argentina in the Falkland Islands. However, all minefields are clearly fenced off and labelled. It is a criminal offense to enter these areas, or alter their signs.
