The expatriate community

Boulder can be described as an international city, but not in the ways that people typically call to mind with that term. Much of Boulder's international influence comes from three sources: Colorado University, research laboratories, and competitive sports.

Without isolating themselves in any one particular neighborhood, international visitors and residents come and go through Boulder. Colorado University, the city's largest employer, has 7000 employees and 30,000 students from all over the world. The university has premier research capabilities, and is the single largest contributor to Boulder's international community.
