Boulder shopping options are diverse and plentiful. Depending on where you live, your everyday shopping needs can be met at suburban shopping malls, historic town centers, farmers' markets (which sell more than fresh produce), large retailers, or at any of the specialty shops and boutiques in the area.
Pearl Street Mall is a destination for residents and visitors alike. A four-block pedestrian area dedicated in 1977, Pearl Street itself dates back to the mid-1800's. Modern shops sell unique items, clothing, antiques, jewelry, art, books, shoes, carpets, sporting gear, and any number of practical items like pharmaceuticals and kitchen goods. Sidewalk sales are held every summer, and winter events include the Lights of December Parade and Small Business Saturday in late November. There are six downtown parking garages, five parking lots, and on-street metered parking nearby.
