Roads in the Boulder area are well maintained, but there is constant expansion work for which drivers need to plan extra driving time. Road signs are readable and in English; they generally display national symbols.

Boulder is fairly easy to navigate, with the mountains forming its western boundary and main roads fanning out to the north, northeast, east, southeast, and south. Route 35, the Denver Boulder Turnpike, is heavily traveled.
